Privacy Policy
This page explains what information CoffeeTracker currently processes, which system permissions it uses, and how that information supports the app’s features.
1. Information We Process
CoffeeTracker is a local-first iOS app for coffee and supply tracking, and it includes a "Coffee Diary" creative feature. Information you enter or generate in the app may include:
- Inventory items such as beans, ground coffee, capsules, drip bags, concentrate pods, milk, and custom materials.
- Content you enter, including tags, notes, favorite reasons, date fields, and inventory values.
- Energy tracking entries, including manually logged drinks and estimated caffeine values.
- Photos you choose or capture for item covers, and photos you take or pick when creating a Coffee Diary entry.
- Coffee Diary content: the canvas you compose (background, cut-out subjects, stickers, text, and label cards redrawn from a cup label), the resulting composed image, and associated drink type, cup count, and notes.
2. Permissions
- Camera: used to capture cover photos for items, and to create diary entries and scan cup labels.
- Photos: used to select images from your photo library for the diary, subject cutouts, and label scanning.
- Add to Photos: used only when you actively share or export a diary image and choose "Save to Photos".
- Notifications: used for local reminders such as stock alerts and cold brew countdowns.
3. Coffee Diary and On-Device Image Processing
All Coffee Diary image processing happens on your device and is never uploaded to any server:
- Subject cutout: uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect and cut out a subject (such as a coffee cup) from your photo.
- Label recognition (OCR): uses Apple's on-device text recognition to read text on a cup label (such as the drink name, order number, and date), used to redraw an original-design label card inside the app. Recognized text stays on your device.
- The images and text produced by this processing are stored locally in the app's sandbox. They are not uploaded, and are never used for any form of user tracking or advertising.
4. Data Storage
In the current version, core app data — including Coffee Diary canvases, photos, and composed images — is primarily stored on your device. Unless a future version clearly states otherwise, CoffeeTracker does not automatically upload your records to developer-operated servers, and does not perform user tracking.
5. How Information Is Used
- To display and manage your inventory, favorites, tags, notes, and date-based records.
- To provide reminders, cold brew countdowns, and date editing features.
- To calculate and display lightweight caffeine estimates and suggestions in Energy Management.
- To create, save, view, and locally share Coffee Diary entries.
- To show summary information in home screen widgets.
6. Accounts and Third-Party Services
The current version does not provide account login, public sharing, social features, e-commerce, or cloud sync, and does not integrate third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. Coffee Diary sharing is initiated by you through the system share sheet. If future versions introduce third-party services or account-based features, this policy will be updated accordingly.
7. Deleting Data
You can edit or delete records and Coffee Diary entries inside the app. Deleting a diary entry also removes its locally stored images (including the composed image). Since the current version is primarily local-first, deletion will generally affect data stored on your device.
8. Updates and Contact
If this Privacy Policy changes in a material way, we may update this page and communicate the change through app updates or in-app messaging.
